From the East

Dear Brethren:

March at Cherrydale Lodge was a very full and exciting month. We had the District Deputy Grand Master, Brian Andrew Block, make his official visit and had a great turn out with excellent food provided by our Stewards. Topping that visit was the official visit of the Grand Master of Virginia, Most Worshipful William Earl Rorer, Jr. For that visit we had standing room only. Again the dinner, provided by Bro. Spoon, was outstanding. In addition to the MW Rorer, we had two past Grand Masters, MW Stuart Wilson Miner (1974) and MW Edmond Cohen (2008), three District Deputy Grand Masters, RW Block, RW Larry Alexander (1B) and RW Michael Robert Aulicino (1A). We also had two past DDGM,RW Roger Worley Peak and RW Jay Alexander Brannam who along with RW Block presented many of our distinguished guests at the altar. MW Rorer brought along the Grand Marshal, Thomas Edward Lasher, RW Stormy Thorson, Chairman Masonic Home Ambassadors and RW Lambros George Deligan, Adm. Asst. to the GM. As well as our own PM F. Reed Brown, Grand Lodge Organist.

To round out this historic guest list we had five Worshipful Masters: Keith Gregory Gawrys of Concord Lodge, Jay Alexander Brannam of Columbia Lodge, Robert Wood White of Kemper Macon Ware Lodge, Oral McNeil Marple of A. Douglas Smith, Jr, Lodge of Research No. 1949 and Worshipful Kevin Bland of Pride of Fairfax County Lodge No. 298
The GM gave an outstanding presentation on the attributes that make our fraternity so strong. He also spoke about getting back to basics with mentoring our new brothers, learning and performing the three catechisms and strengthening our overall ritual within the lodges.

In April we will have Christine Lucas of the Arlington Food Assistance Center and Eric Madison from the Royal Arch. Cherrydale supports the Arlington Food Assistance program with brothers bringing in canned foods and other non perishable items. Our SW Carl Weaver is a member of the Royal Arch and I know he would like you all to come out and hear about this outstanding appendant body.

In addition to our two stated communications we have a Fellow Craft degree on April 7, 2010 at 7:30.

Hope to see you all in April. We are having a great time!

Fraternally yours,

James Franklin Norris
Worshipful Master
